In the special, Kennedy, a former inmate, says he allegedly shared a cell with the former New England Patriots player at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Lancaster, Massachusetts. He describes himself as a “regular kid that grew up and got sidetracked by drugs and gangs.” In an episode, Kennedy claims he and Hernandez would “lock in to either cook food or smoke, get high, listen to music, just chill when we didn’t want to be around other people. We used to write letters back and forth to each other all day. We sold drugs every day, we did drugs every day.”

In 2017, Hernandez was found dead in his cell with “John 3:16” written across his forehead after committing suicide by hanging himself with his own bed sheet. The REELZ special is due to air on July 5 at 8 PM. EST.
