Man Charged With Contempt After Going Viral For Joining Zoom Traffic Court Driving His Car With A Suspended License
A Michigan man is speaking out saying a judge is holding him in contempt after a video of him joining a Zoom hearing driving his car while he had a suspended license went viral on Instagram.
The clip shows 28-year-old Kevon Burns driving a car while attending his court hearing on zoom, despite having a suspended license due to a charge from 2020. The 2020 charge was due to Burns operating a motor vehicle “without security” meaning without car insurance and is considered a misdemeanor in Michigan which can land him fines between $200-$500 or up to a year in prison.

“Are you driving right now?” Judge Erane C. Washington asked Burns at the beginning of the hearing. “Yeah,” Burns responded. The judge asked Burns to park and exit the vehicle.
After, Burns said, “are you having a bad day, just say that,” directed at Washington, who replied that she was not having a bad day until he “started talking while driving at the same time that you’re suspended.”
Burns posted the clip on his Instagram earlier this month then went viral after many repost and shares.
After Burns found out his video was being shared everywhere he created a link where followers can purchase some of his merch. Burns was selling sweatshirts with his famous quote from the video on it reading, “If You Having A Bad Day Just Say That.”
