Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Shooting Waffle House Cook Over Face Mask
An Aurora, Colorado man has been charged with attempted murder after shooting a Waffle House cook, who tried to kick him out for refusing to wear a face mask. Last weekend, the man, identified as Kelvin Watson, 27, of Denver, was booked on suspicion of first degree attempted murder.
Watson is accused of shooting and seriously injuring a 25-year-old cook after he was refused service for not wearing a face covering. Police say, the night before the shooting, Watson was refused service for the first time. He left and returned with a mask, but he wasn’t wearing it over his mouth. Subsequently, he was asked to leave again, but then threatened the staff, telling the cook, while displaying a gun, “You better shut the f*ck up before I blow your brains out.”

Watson ended up leaving after police were called, but he returned the next evening, unmasked and demanding service. With the restaurant at capacity, staff asked him to leave, but he became upset and slapped the cook across the face. The victim ran out of the back door and called police. However, Watson met him in the back and proceed to threaten him. The victim began to run to his nearby home, with Watson following him. During this time, he shot the 25-year-old victim, which resulted in his hospitalization. He is now in recovery.
