He reportedly bought three jars of snake wine after believing the drink could help cure his son who was suffering from a chronic illness. However, he left the jars unopened for a year so the “medicinal properties” could last for a long time. The man claims he opened the jars and give the medicine when all three of the snakes “came back to life.” Moments later, one of the snakes bit him.

After the bite, the man was quickly transported to a nearby hospital and survived the encounter. According to Yahoo! News, the incident doesn’t seem to be too far-fetched since snakes can reportedly live in a jar of alcohol for up to a year without dying.

Zoology expert Wolfgang Wüster claims the incident is biologically impossible since snakes cannot live in any kind of liquid in a bottle for more than an hour.

“No snake can survive submerged in any kind of liquid in a bottle for more than an hour or so as a maximum. Snakes have no magical powers, they are made of flesh and bone like any other animal, and require food, water and oxygen to survive,”
