According to the New York Post, San Andreas resident William Robert Cable,38, told his eight victims that they were participating in a “spicy food challenge” in Huntington Beach back in May. Cable laced the food with a substance called oleoresin capsicum and it would cause the victims to experience symptoms such as stomach pains, respiratory issues, and seizures. He also gave them beer to manipulate them into participating in the “challenge.”
Prosecutors said in a statement that Cable did not indicate whether he was going to upload the video clips or sell them to make a profit.

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer called Cable’s crime a “twisted form of entertainment” during a press conference. He said, “They were exploited and poisoned as part of a twisted form of entertainment, and their pain was recorded so that it could be relived by their attacker over and over again.”
Cable was arrested and charged with eight counts of poisoning along with facing a maximum sentence of 19 years in jail. His bond is $500,000.
