29-year-old Eric Spencer was arrested on robbery charges on Saturday weeks after he and his three accomplices stole goods from a Chanel boutique in Soho. Investigators said the total costs of the bags and other items totaled up to $189,500 and Spencer bragged on social media that he had enough to “open a small boutique” since he acquired so many “Double C” items.
As reported by the New York Post, Spencer appeared in federal court early Monday morning and it is unclear when he will be transferred to New York. He has 32 prior arrests, 15 felonies, and if convicted, Spencer faces 20 years in prison.

Investigators say the robberies started in September where the suspects would enter luxury boutiques to steal items and flee the scene in rental cars with fake IDS and license plates. Spencer’s three other partners are still on the loose and FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney said in a statement that the bureau is committed to using tools to capture everyone involved in the heists.
Mr. Spencer’s alleged actions violated federal law, and he is now in our custody. For others who plan to behave in the same manner, listen up – the FBI is committed to using every tool at our disposal to hold violent criminals accountable for their decisions, and our partnership with the NYPD is airtight.”
