A Michigan man has been charged with six counts of attempted homicide after allegedly driving over 700 miles to set fire to the home of a Pennsylvania man who had been in contact with his ex-girlfriend.

The incident occurred on February 10 in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, where six adults managed to escape a massive house fire. However, two dogs tragically lost their lives. Authorities identified the suspect as Harrison Jones, who reportedly tracked down the victim after learning about his online relationship with his ex-girlfriend. 

How a Jealous Ex Led to a 700-Mile Arson Attack

Surveillance Footage Captures the Crime

According to the Bensalem Police Department, emergency responders rushed to the scene after reports of a house fire and explosion. Nearby surveillance footage showed a black sedan passing the home at 5:01 a.m.. The video revealed a man exiting the vehicle with an unidentified object and walking toward the residence.

Approximately 15 minutes later, the suspect ran back to the vehicle and sped off. Within seconds of his departure, thick smoke billowed from the home, followed by a large explosion engulfing the two-story house in flames. Before the fire, investigators noted that a black 2021 Volkswagen passenger car with a Michigan license plate passed through an intersection with Automated License Plate Readers. ABC News reported that they later found that the vehicle was registered to Harrison’s address in Rockford, Michigan.
