Welp, Mama June Shannon is embarking on yet another weight loss journey. This time the reality star is opting for injections to help in her major transformation.
In a candid Instagram post, Shannon, 44, reflected on her past weight loss achievements, including undergoing gastric sleeve surgery in 2015 that helped her drop a significant amount of weight. “As you know, back in May 2015, I had a gastric sleeve surgery,” Shannon said via Instagram on Tuesday, April 16. “I used to weigh 550 pounds. So on my own, I went from 550 pounds to 311 pounds. the day that I had my surgery. And in six weeks, I went from 311 all the way down to 195 [pounds].” Shannon noted that she “kinda kept off the weight.”
After getting all the way down to 150, Shannon recalled, “ I looked super skinny and I just wasn’t used to that. Well, I have noticed over the last, like, year and a half, that I’ve really put on weight.” Despite initially maintaining her weight loss success, Shannon revealed that recent challenges, such as the stress of caregiving and unhealthy eating habits, led to a weight gain of around 120 to 130 pounds. “I tried to cut back on eating out, I tried to cut back on my eating, nothing was actually helping.”
After browsing on social media and seeing what other weight loss drugs that people were using, she decided she wanted to give it a try. “I decided to go with semaglutide a couple months ago through my main doctor.”
Shannon went on to explain that she will be taking ten units for the next four weeks. From there, she will “move up from there.”
Sharing her decision to start a regimen of semaglutide injections, Shannon expressed her commitment to documenting her progress and encouraged her followers to join her on this journey. With the support of her husband, Justin Stroud, Shannon took her first injection and pledged to provide weekly updates on her experience.
Promising to take update fans through every step, Shannon told her followers “We are going through this journey together,” she said.
