Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama have officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president!

The major endorsement came in the form a video call which she posted this Friday morning. In the video, Barack Obama expressed his pride in endorsing Harris and pledged to do everything he can to help her secure the presidency. “Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office.”

Harris, in response, expressed her gratitude for the Obamas’ endorsement and the decades-long friendship they share. “Oh my goodness. Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me. I’m looking forward to doing this with the two of you, Doug and I both. And getting out there, being on the road,” the vice president said. She added, “But most of all, I just want to tell you the words you have spoken and the friendship that you have given over all these years mean more than I can express, so thank you both. It means so much. And we’re gonna have some fun with this too, aren’t we?” she added.

Michelle Obama, in her heartfelt message, commended Harris for her achievements and predicted that this election would be historic. She expressed her pride in supporting Harris and highlighted the importance of her vision, character, and strength in this critical moment for the country.

In an official joint statement released by the Obamas praised Harris for her accomplishments and emphasized her qualifications beyond her resume. “Kamala has more than a resume,” the statement read. “She has the vision, the character, and the strength that this critical moment demands. There is no doubt in our mind that Kamala Harris has exactly what it takes to win this election and deliver for the American people.”

As we previously reported Barack Obama did not immediately endorse Harris following President Joe Biden’s announcement that he would not seek reelection. However, in a follow-up tweet, he eventually expressed his confidence in Harris and affirmed his full support for her presidential campaign.

“Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us.”

With the support of the Obamas, Harris enters the race with a powerful endorsement from two influential figures who have shaped American history.
