The First Lady ended up apologizing for her double invitation. A Press Secretary fo Ms. Biden released a statement on her behalf. The release read, “Her comments in Colorado were intended to applaud the historic game and all women athletes. She looks forward to celebrating the LSU Tigers on their championship win at the White House.”

However, in an interview following First Lady Jill Biden’s White House invitation to LSU and Iowa, and apology, Angel Reese shared that she does NOT accept it.

Speaking with Paper Route, Angel admitted that her quick response to the First Lady’s double invitation was not formulated with her team or pre-calculated.

Angel Reese says, “It was straight from the heart. That was what it was in the moment. As soon as that happened, we hit the group chat, like, ‘What are we doing? Are y’all trying to go? ‘Cause if we’re not going, we’re not going.’ And my coach was telling us to just be patient. She’s got this. And that’s why [The First Lady] came out with that statement this morning. We made a lot of phone calls. And that’s why she wants to come out and apologize.”

She continued, But, at the same time, I don’t accept it. I’m not going to lie to you. I don’t accept the apology, because you said what you said. And I said what I said. You can’t go back on certain things that you say. You felt like they should’ve came because of the sportsmanship, right? They can have that spotlight. We’ll go to The Obamas. We’ll see Michelle. We’ll see Barack.”
