The Louisville Metro Police Department is planning to fire the detective who obtained the no-knock warrant to enter Breonna Taylor’s home.

It was revealed after a Professional Standards Unit investigation that Detective Joshua Jaynes violated department protocols and procedures to prepare for the search warrant. Earlier today, Jaynes received a pre-termination letter and his hearing with interim Chief Yvette Gentry and other officials is scheduled for Thursday. Jaynes was not present during the shooting in Taylor’s home but Gentry stated he discredited himself when he obtained the no-knock clause from a judge twelve hours before.
‘These are extreme violations of our policies, which endangered others. Your actions have brought discredit upon yourself and the department. Your conduct has severely damaged the image our department has established within our community.’

Jaynes’ attorney claims he and his client will try to convince Gentry and other officers that the termination is unwarranted during the hearing.
