Louis Vuitton To Celebrate Virgil Abloh’s Life With His Final Collection Show In Miami, “Pr His Wishes”,

Following the devastating news that fashion visionary and designer, Virgil Abloh sadly passed away after privately battling Cancer, Louis Vuitton has revealed that they will be holding a show in Miami to showcase Abloh’s final collection.

The fashion house took to Instagram  to announce that it will show Abloh’s menswear’s final collection in Miami on Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. ET. to “pay tribute to the life and legacy of a creative genius.”

Michael Burke, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman, and CEO, said that Virgil’s final wishes were for the show to continue.

“It is with profound sorrow that I learned of the passing of Virgil Abloh. Virgil was not only a friend, great collaborator, creative genius, visionary and disruptor, but also one of the best cultural communicators of our times. He paved the way for future generations. As a devoted supporter of his community through his charities and passions, he was an eternal optimist who believed anything was possible,” Burke said.

“In this same spirit, we at Louis Vuitton will proudly continue to celebrate his legacy with a final show in Miami, per his wishes. I am honored to have called him my friend. My deepest thoughts are with his wife, children, parents, family and the entire community that was touched by his greatness.”

As we reported, he was battling cancer for more than two years which was kept under wraps after learning about his diagnosis in 2019. “For over two years, Virgil valiantly battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture.” the statement continues.

Abloh is well known for launching his fashion brands Pyrex which later changed to Off-White. He also made history as the first African-American creative director of menswear for Louis Vuitton and designed album covers for Jay-Z, Kanye West, ASAP Rocky, and Lil Uzi.
