Los Angeles Protestor Who Was Hit With A Rubber Bullet Sues LAPD After Testicle Exploded

Ben Montemayor, a Los Angeles protestor who was hit with a rubber bullet back in June 2020, is now suing the LAPD for excessive force after his testicle exploded

In Steyn’s lawsuit, which names the city and LAPD Chief Michel Moore as defendants, argues against a finding by the department’s Use of Force Review Board that claims their officer was in policy when he shot the 29-year-old protestor in his groin.

Furthermore, the suit, which seeks unspecified monetary damages, catalogs the LAPD’s failures to properly prepare for the protests or train its officers on the use of such projectiles; arguing that said failures were a “moving forced” behind Montemayor’s injuries sustained. Overall, Montemayor hopes his lawsuit holds the LAPD accountable and protect protestors by arguing against the false narrative that rubber bullets and projectiles alike aren’t capable of inflicting serious harm.
