On March 1, Keziah Felanga was eating lunch at Hendon School in London, England, when four male students approached her and insulted her. Keziah was left “screaming” and “distraught,” according to the teen’s sister, when the boys attacked her. When the teens’ friends intervened, the attack came to a halt, and Keziah was able to find a teacher to assist her.

Christesse, on the other hand, claimed that the teacher was more concerned with her sister getting off FaceTime than with assisting her and asking if she was okay. A week after the attack, school officials informed the family that the boys would be separated from her permanently. Still, Keziah stated that she was placed in isolation while the boys continued to attend class. The teen was also horrified that some of her hair was ripped out during the attack.

“I was crying because I lost a part of my hair. I didn’t feel the pain in my neck because of the adrenaline on the day but my neck was really stiff and it would hurt. I couldn’t move it around. The first thing that went through my mind was my sister because the same thing happened to her. Like the exact same thing happened to her,” she explained to the Mirror UK.

“She literally called me right after. I just heard her screaming down the phone. She was absolutely distraught,” Christess said.

After Keziah’s story went viral on Instagram and Twitter, several more students came forward and said the school has a reputation of failing to address bullying and racism. Christess said she received over 15 messages about their experiences but she didn’t get a chance to open them.

She was also upset at her sister’s teachers for failing to take action after the attack.

“My temper was literally rising at the minute because I was like, ‘what is the concern?’ She’s had to walk around the whole school building to actually come face to face with a member of staff.”

Keziah said she was subjected to the same harassment last summer after the boys created fake social media accounts to send racist messages.

“They would call us fat gorillas and stuff. And it came to a point where they would send like old pictures of myself and they would make fun of me.People were saying we’re going to come to your house and we’re going to kill you. They would like call me a slag and they would make rape threats.”

Christess said the school’s administration decided to take action once the story went viral on social media.

“That school, I just feel like now it’s they just showed that they’re really, really negligent. Keziah has suffered a lot. This has been going on since last summer and now obviously it’s come to this now. The fact that they say they are only investigating because things started blowing up on social media.”
