Looks like LoLo Jones feels some type of way about Angel Reese being labeled the greatest athlete of all time to come out of LSU.
On Shaq’s podcast, The Big Bod, Tuesday (April 11), the NBA legend, who also went to LSU, said that he believes the current basketball star Angel Reese is the greatest to ever wear the purple and gold. As we previously reported, Reese had an excellent season as she played a pivotal role in LSU winning its first-ever NCAA women’s college basketball championship title.
While speaking on the big win, Shaq said,
“She’s probably the greatest athlete ever to come out of LSU sports. You heard it here first,” O’Neal said of Reese. “Male and female. Ever. Because guess what? She delivered. She delivered that package. See, a lot of us got the package, and we still got the package in our truck. She delivered that package. So, you know, there’s a lot of names you could throw around — men and women — but she’s probably the greatest athlete.” He added, “Some people are going to exclude it to women athletes. I’m not doing that. She’s the greatest athlete to ever come out of LSU.” While many sports fans would agree with the veteran athlete who knows a lot about success, Lolo Jones — who starred for LSU’s track team before competing in BOTH the Summer and Winter Olympics, does not agree with Shaq at all!
While speaking with TMZ, Lolo believes that Shaq was just “bored” when he made those comments. She also thinks he hasn’t been in the right state of mind since he underwent a hip procedure last month.
“Shaq knew what he was doing,” Jones said. “Shaq’s just bored. He’s coming off hip surgery. He’s chilling at home. I think Shaq, honestly, is high on some pain medicines. The list is so big with LSU.” She goes on to list other athletes who’ve had great success while attending the university. Loll added, “So, for Shaq to have the audacity to say ‘she’s the best ever,'” Jones continued, “I’m like, ‘Bro, chill on the pain meds,’ because that list is arduous. So long.”
Lolo went on to make it clear that she was not in any way disrespecting Reese, “We’re not hating on Angel. We love to see it. She’s cooking. Let her keep cooking. But I’m telling you, LSU track and field is the powerhouse for that university,” she told TMZ.
Reese hasn’t responded yet to Lolo’s latest interview but it’s probably because she’s too busy raking in more deals.
As it was previously mentioned, Angel Reese has climbed to the top of On3’s NIL valuations for women’s college basketball following LSU’s national championship victory over Iowa. The 20-year-old’s valuation rose to $1.3 million, putting her ahead of Haley ($930,000) and Hanna Cavinder ($924,000). Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark ($830,000) is fourth on the list.
