Loaded Gun Found In NYC Jail That Housed Jeffrey Epstein

According to CBS New York, Federal investigators found a loaded gun in the same Manhattan jail where Jeffrey Epstein killed himself last summer.

It was said that the Bureau of Prisons officers made the discovery of a smuggled loaded gun inside a housing unit at Metropolitan Correctional Center on Thursday. Apparently, the weapon was found after a weeklong lockdown that turned up other contraband, including cellphones and drugs, and led to a criminal investigation into guard misconduct.

Officials did not share where specifically the gun had been found, or how it had been smuggled inside the jail. However, this now marks a massive breach of protocol and raised serious questions about the security practices in place at the Bureau of Prisons, which is responsible for more than 175,000 federal inmates. This also comes as a shock since the hail had been billed as one of the most secure in America.

As we previously reported Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced millionaire who was facing federal sex trafficking charges, died by suicide early Saturday, law enforcement sources and the Bureau of Prisons confirmed to ABC News. However, his suicide raised eyebrows since he was under suicide while in jail.
