According to the Daily Mail, Lizzo is reportedly looking to do a sit down interview with Gayle King to address her former back up dancers accusing her of sexual harassment.
As we previously reported, Crystal Williams, Noelle Rodriguez and Arianna Davis accused Lizzo of discrimination and creating a ‘hostile work environment,’ but the singer has already denied those allegations and has requested for a judge to toss the lawsuit out. A spokesperson on Lizzo’s team shed light on the request to have the lawsuit tossed and shared, “This is the first step of a legal process in which Lizzo and her team will demonstrate that they have always practiced what they’ve preached – whether it comes to promoting body positivity, leading a safe and supportive workplace or protecting individuals from any kind of harassment,” the spokesperson said. “Any and all claims to the contrary are ridiculous, and we look forward to proving so in a court of law.”
Variety also received the documents that were filed and according to the news outlet, Lizzo’s team is denying “each and every allegation,” and wants them to be tossed “in its entirety with prejudice.” In the filing they stated, “there was no injury, loss or damage to Plaintiffs” and that plaintiffs “are guilty of unclean hands” (meaning they are not legally entitled to any damages), among other notes in response to the dancer’s original claims.
Just in case you missed it, Lizzo denied the allegations with a lengthy post on Instagram where she shared, “These last few days have been gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals, and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually, I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed. These sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.”
We previously shared how Lizzo’s team released photos of the dancers “happily” attending a nude show. Marty Singer, described the women as “happily carousing” and “gleefully reveling” in the photos, which he said discredited their claims in the “bogus” lawsuit. Then a in a new statement provided to HuffPost came out from the women’s attorney Neama Rahmani and she accused Lizzo of trying to play this case out on social media instead of taking it to the courtroom. “We’ve addressed all these instances where the plaintiffs appear to be happy alongside Lizzo during their time working with her,” Rahmani said. “Of course, they wanted to keep their jobs. They had bills to pay just like everyone else but they finally had enough of the abuse.”
