Lizzo recently refused to answer a question about the lawsuits against her. As we all know, in 2023, Lizzo encountered a challenging time when she was faced with a harassment lawsuit filed by a few of her ex-dancers.

During a panel at Fortune‘s Most Powerful Women Summit on October 14, Lizzo was asked about those lawsuits and she said she didn’t want to discuss that topic at the moment. “I don’t want to talk about things like that. This is the space where we’re celebrating female CEO’s and powerful women this isn’t really the space to talk about the negative things that happen to us because so much negative stuff happens to powerful women,” she said.

Lizzo also opened up about this experience and discussed her present feelings regarding fame.

“I’ve been canceled for everything at this point. Only God can cancel me now. I think that I talk about the things that are important to me, and I talk about the things that I can bring a difference to, and I think those are my boundaries now with the public.”

During the same panel, she elaborated on her recent remarks about considering a “gap year,” stating “ “‘Gap year’? Girl, who said ‘gap year’? I launched my company Yitty in 2022 at the same time as my album, Special. […] As soon as I stepped down home from tour — I may not be as public-facing — but I went straight to Yitty headquarters, and I’ve just been working, working, working. You may not see me, but I’ve been working. It ain’t a gap year, it’s a grind year.”

Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez are the former dancers who have accused Lizzo of sexual harassment, weight shaming and more. Though Lizzo has denied the allegations, fans are still not sure whose story to believe. Lizzo released a statement to her Instagram last year denying the claims that read; “These last few days have been gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals, and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually, I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed. These sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.”

We previously shared how Lizzo’s team released photos of the dancers “happily” attending a nude show. Marty Singer, described the women as “happily carousing” and “gleefully reveling” in the photos, which he said discredited their claims in the “bogus” lawsuit. Then a in a new statement provided to HuffPost came out from the women’s attorney Neama Rahmani and she accused Lizzo of trying to play this case out on social media instead of taking it to the courtroom. “We’ve addressed all these instances where the plaintiffs appear to be happy alongside Lizzo during their time working with her,” Rahmani said. “Of course, they wanted to keep their jobs. They had bills to pay just like everyone else but they finally had enough of the abuse.”
