Ever since JAY-Z’s Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL announced Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for 2025’s Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans (the birthplace and stomping grounds of rap legend Lil Wayne), social media has been in an uproar debating if K.Dot was the right choice over Weezy and his Cash Money/Young Money family, and/or the No Limit crew and other Louisiana artists.

Days after the apparent snub, Lil Wayne broke his silence and admitted that he was ‘hurt” by the decision and felt like he had let everyone down. Nearly two months later, Lil Wayne again addressed the Super Bowl halftime show controversy at his annual Lil Weezyana Fest in his hometown.

At the show, he got emotional and again told fans how disappointed he was and that he would work harder to never be denied an opportunity like this again. Days after that, Kendrick Lamar dropped a surprise album, ‘GNX,’ where he mentioned the Super Bowl halftime show controversy and name-dropped Lil Wayne on the track “Wacced Out Murals.”

Weezy initially responded on X and said, “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”

It was then reported by New Jersey rapper Joe Budden that Lil Wayne reached out to Kendrick Lamar over his bars, but got no response. Since then, Lil Wayne now tells Skip Bayless that he did speak with Kendrick Lamar and wished him well on his Super Bowl halftime show performance in his hometown of New Orleans. Weezy also told Bayless that he was not offended by K.Dot’s bars on his ‘GNX’ track “Wacced Out Murals.”

Wayne told Bayless, “I wanna get to the point where I’m undeniable. I want them to walk in there and have 10 other choices and whoever’s in charge says ‘No, you have to go with him.'”

Bayless also asked Weezy about K.Dot’s lyrics on “Wacced Out Murals.” He said, “That was my first time hearing it. I think he’s a fan, like I’m a fan of his music … He saw with everybody else. He saw how much it meant to me, I think that’s all he means.”

Wayne added, “Obviously he can’t control that, you know? So he didn’t let me down. It ain’t like he can control it or nothing. And also I’ve spoken to him and I wished him all the best and told him he better kill it. He gotta kill it.”
