Lewis Hamilton Investigated For Breonna Taylor Tribute At Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton could face some hefty fines because he’s currently being investigated for wearing a shirt in support of arresting Breonna Taylor’s killers while at the Tuscan Grand Prix over the weekend.
As of now officials are discussing whether his attire violated the sport’s “no political statement” rule.
The black t-shirt said, “Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor” in pink on the front, and the words, “Say her name” on the back, along with an image of Breonna. As we reported, 26-year-old Taylor was shot dead by Louisville, KY police in March. The cops have still not been arrested.
Lewis Hamilton has been vocal about racism in the U.S and U.K, adding that he’s surrounded by white men in his profession.
“I’m in a sport which is white-dominated and there is very little diversity, for example. And with everything that happened in the states, it really brought up a lot of emotions for me.”
“A lot of people think it is only happening in the states. Yes, there is the police brutality in the states but systemic racism is across the world.”
