Lebron James Responds To Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Criticism Of Covid Meme: “We’re All Trying To Figure This Pandemic Out”
NBA star LeBron James has reacted to Los to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s judgment of a meme James shared on social media challenging the difference between COVID-19, the flu and the common cold. Abdul-Jabbar wrote that the meme was “unimformed” and that James “encouraged vaccine hesitancy which puts lives and livelihoods at risk.”
After the Lakers game against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, James was asked about Abdul-Jabbar’s statements.
“No, I don’t have a response to Kareem at all,” James said. “And if you saw the post and you read the tag, you’re literally, honestly asking, ‘Help me out?’ Help me kind of figure it all out. We’re all trying to figure this pandemic out.”
As we previously reported, on Monday, Dec. 27, Abdul-Jabbar spoke to Substack to open up about James’ post, calling it “a blow to his worthy legacy.” The 74-year-old continued, adding that “the meme implies that LeBron doesn’t understand the difference among these three illnesses, even after all the information that’s been presented in the press.”
Abdul-Jabbar took a step back from his criticisms by congratulating James for his play on the court and work off the court to be a leader in the African-American community. However, Abdul-Jabbar stated that James’ post and off-season opinion regarding the COVID-19 vaccine could hurt the Black community.
