LAX Police Officer Tests Positive For Coronavirus, LA Confirms 69 Cases
Upon Mayor Eric Garcetti‘s new restrictions across Los Angeles County on Sunday (Mar 15), it is being confirmed that a police officer at LAX has tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total cases confirmed for the city to 69.
Furthermore, Garcetti’s announcement stated that all bars, nightclubs, gyms and theaters will close, and restaurants must halt dine-in services, limiting to take out orders until March 31, effective at midnight Sunday.

Also, grocery stores, pharmacies and food banks will remain open, and a moratorium on evictions for renters has also been announced. However, as local businesses are seeing closures, more than 50,000 city government employees are still being asked to go to work.
In addition to the officer at LAX, an USC student, who’d recently returned from international travel has contracted the virus, but hasn’t been on or near the university’s campuses.

Additionally, 16 new cases were reported by midday Sunday (Mar 16), with one of them claiming an unknown source of exposure. Three others are under investigation. Another three were travel-related. Four had close contact with another confirmed case; and two others were healthcare workers.
