You Tried It! Lawyer For Lil Wayne Says Support For Trump Wasn’t For Gun Charge Pardon

Oop! A lawyer for rapper Lil Wayne is shutting down claims that his public support for Donald Trump was a strategic move in him being pardoned for his gold-plated gun charge!

On the last day of Trump’s presidency, he issued 70 last-minute commuted sentences and 74 pardons, including that for Weezy F Baby — who was due to be sentenced later this month for a December 2019 gun charge, which had him looking at 10 years in a federal prison. Now, this only furthered social media’s theory that Wayne’s photo with Trump and vocal support was get to federal favor.

However, in an interview with the New York Times, South Florida lawyer Bradford Cohen recalls helping set up Trump’s rendezvous with Wayne, and affirms that in no way was it to brown nose him to pardon Weezy. He says, “It never hurts that someone gets a full understanding of an individual when they’re just looking at a piece of paper. In hindsight, I guess it worked out. I think they had a very strong connection. He’s in the entertainment world. He’s got a style that’s similar in terms of the way that he carries himself, and a lot of rappers and people in the industry relate to that.”
