Lawyer Claims Kanye West’s Presidential Petition To Get On Ballot In NJ Has Over 600 Faulty Signatures

We all know it’s been a struggle for Kanye West to get on the ballots but, according to a lawyer, he’s taking extreme measures to make it happen.

The petition filed by the rapper to appear as a presidential candidate in New Jersey is currently under fire after an elections attorney found hundreds of signatures he claims are suspect. The filings show that the 43-year-old submitted 1,327 signatures to the state Division of Elections by Monday’s deadline, surpassing the 800 needed for independent presidential candidates. Although that seemed good for Ye, apparently it was as just two days after he filed, Florham Park-based elections lawyer Scott Salmon claimed he found hundreds of inconsistencies which included signatures with identical handwriting, along with names of people who are not registered voters, he said.

According to NJ.com citing Politico, Salmon identified a total of 640 names of people who were not registered to vote. Apparently, they also did not live at the addresses included in the petition or provided incomplete information, according to a letter Salmon sent to the Division of Elections Wednesday morning objecting to West’s petition.

“Mr. West’s petitions do not contain the valid signatures of 800 qualified voters and should have been rejected by the Division,” Salmon wrote in the complaint.”

The news comes shortly after it was reported earlier this month that he dropped over $35,000 to appear on the ballot in Oklahoma and on Monday he also filed paperwork to do the same in Missouri.
