Oh, the drama of being a rapper in the age of social media! It seems like everyone has an opinion, especially when it comes to calling out artists as “industry plants.” But fear not, because Latto is here to defend herself and shut down those Twitter critics!
In a now-deleted post on X, formerly known as Twitter, one user wrote, “Latto has to be an industry plant I’m sorry.” The 24-year-old artist caught wind of the comment and had something to say back!
She said, “I came up before social media I handed out mixtapes, did open mics & talent shows, etc I hate when y’all say this.. I worked VERY long & hard to be here. Being relevant since 16yo is not easy or common.”

Those who have been following Latto know that she started rapping at a very young age and during her early teens, she even competed on Jermaine Dupri’s hit show, The Rap Game and won! Around that time there was no TikTok, Instagram promo or any big internet push so she really had to grind to get where she is today.
However, the new folks who are just getting hip to the “Big Energy” artist are just now learning these facts about her.
Now, despite that, Latto not is not the only big artist to fall victim to the “Industry Plant” label.
As we previously reported, Cardi B was called one by Kanye West in a never before seen clip that surfaced online. He said, Cardi B is a plant by the Illuminati,” the outspoken artist begins. “She don’t write her raps. She’s just there to sound as ignorant as possible and then make songs like, ‘F**k them and get some money.’”
He continued, “She has literally replaced Nicki Minaj, purposely they put her there, and now she doesn’t know what to do, and she has no idea what the f**k is going on. She thinks it’s just a blessing from the universe. It ain’t no blessing from the universe.”
However, like the Queen that she is, she responded with class while always reminding Kanye that he was #TeamCardi just a year ago.
