A Latino Trump supporter says he is “all for” mass deportation and doesn’t believe that President-elect Donald Trump would be “unfair” and deport “family-oriented” Latinos; however, Trump’s new “border czar” Tom Homan believes otherwise.

One day after Donald Trump announced former acting ICE director Tom Homan as his “border czar,” a Latino supporter spoke with CNN and told the network how he is “all for” mass deportation and doesn’t see Donald Trump being “unfair” and deporting “family-oriented” Latinos.

While voicing his support for Donald Trump post-election, Jorge Rivas spoke with CNN inside his restaurant — Sammy’s Mexican Grill, in Catalina, Arizona, north of Tucson, which he runs with his wife Betty Rivas. CNN reported that Rivas loves Donald Trump so much that he features a MAGA burger on his menu.

Rivas, who was born in El Salvador, was granted asylum at age 17 and claims he doesn’t see much of a connection between his migrant life and those that the Trump administration plans to mass deport.

Standing inside his restaurant, Rivas told CNN, “If they let in hundreds or thousands of people who already have criminal records if deporting them creates a mass deportation, I’m all for it.” He continued to say that he does not think the action will extend to law-abiding migrants.

He said, “That wouldn’t be fair. They need to make sure that they don’t throw away, they don’t kick out, they don’t deport people that are family oriented.” As mentioned, this Latino Trump supporter’s comments on mass deportation arrived just one day after Donald Trump appointed former acting ICE director Tom Homanas his “border czar.

Trump took to Truth Social and said, “I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (“The Border Czar”), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security. I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long-awaited for, job.”

Homan has previously gone viral over his October 2024 interview with ’60 Minutes,’ where he spoke on mass deportation. In his sit-down, he said, “I hear a lot of people say, ‘The talk of mass deportation is racist. It’s threatening to the immigrant community.’ It’s not threatening to the immigrant community. It should be threatening to the illegal immigrant community. But, on the heels of a historic illegal immigrant crisis, that has to be done.”

Homan also said, “It’s not going to be a mass sweep of neighborhoods. It’s not going to be building concentration camps — I’ve read it all. It’s ridiculous.” He then clarified that mass deportations “will be targeted arrests,” adding, “We’ll know who we’re going to arrest and where we are most likely to find them, based on numerous investigative processes.”

When asked if it would approximately cost $88 billion to deport 1 million people a year, Homan said, “I don’t know if that’s accurate or not.” He then fired back, “What price do you put on national security? Is it worth it?” When asked if there was a way to carry out mass deportation without separating families, Homan said, “Of course there is. Families can be deported together.”
