Larenz Tate Claims Jada Pinkett Smith Rejected ‘Dead Presidents’ Role Over Tupac Beef

In a recent interview with HipHollywood, ‘Power‘ star Larenz Tate talks his career, including his role in the cult classic ‘Dead Presidents.’ Tate even claims Jada Pinkett Smith rejected a role in the 1995 film over a beef Tupac Shakur had.

In a clip, Tate says Pinkett Smith had the opportunity to take on the role of “Delilah,” but turned it down out of loyalty and respect for her close friend 2Pac, who had beef with the directing Hughes brothers: Albert Hughes and Allen Hughes.

Tate recalls, “We’re on set in New Orleans talking about that experience. I said, ‘I talked to the Hughes brothers and you were supposed to be in the movie.’ And she says ‘I was.’ She was like, ‘I couldn’t do it because, at the time, I was really close with Tupac and Tupac had this beef with the Hughes brothers.’ She had a good relationship with Tupac and she didn’t want to get in the middle of it. She thought if she had done that movie, it would’ve been a little weird.”

It’s noted that Pac’s feud with the Hughes brothers goes back to when he was thrown off the ‘Menace II Society‘ set, followed by him getting into a physical altercation with Allen Hughes on the set of a music video.
