Landlords Reportedly Asking For Sex From Tenants Who Are Unable To Pay Rent

Apparently some creepy landlords are taking advantage of those in need right now by asking for sex in exchange for rent payments.

According to Buzzfeed, a woman reported that she couldn’t make rent on April 1 rent due to the crisis, so she decided to text her landlord asking for help. He responded with a dick pic! In addition, another woman said her landlord responded asking to spoon with her when she asked for help.

The Hawaii State Commission reports that there are at least ten complaints from women since Coronavirus outbreak!

“We’ve received more cases at our office in the last two days than we have in the last two years,” Khara Jabola-Carolus, the executive director of the commission said to BuzzFeed News in a phone interview last week.

Over 17 million Americans have lost their jobs and filed for unemployment since the beginning of the crisis.

“We have seen an uptick in sexual harassment,” said Sheryl Ring, director at Open Communities. “Since this started, they [landlords] have been taking advantage of the financial hardships many of their tenants have in order to coerce their tenants into a sex-for-rent agreement — which is absolutely illegal.”

The stay at home orders and lockdowns have led to an increase in sexual harassment by landlords who are attempting to use sex as a form of payment.
