Lamar Odom has revealed that he got a tattoo of former pal and Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant on his neck after having dreamt of the late NBA player during his time on CBS’ Celebrity Big Brother. The 42-year-old revealed in an interview with Page Six this week, sharing that he opted to get Kobe’s face tattooed soon after leaving the reality TV show because of how often he had seen him in his dreams.
“It’s just his face. It’s on my neck. When I was in the ‘CBB’ house I dreamed [of] him four or five times,” the father-of-two expressed. “They were really vivid and easy to remember because he was talking to me in the dreams.” Lamar said he saw himself playing a basketball contest with Kobe before talking to him about life after death in one of those dreams.
“He just looked back to me and said, ‘LO, the afterlife ain’t what people make it up to be,’ and I just kinda woke up,” he continued. “I’m stunned and shocked, but it could mean a lot of things. It could’ve meant that he misses his people, misses his daughters. Could’ve meant maybe his job wasn’t finished yet. I woke up really emotional after that.”
The dreams Lamar had of Kobe where they spoke about the afterlife may have had a significant meaning to the New Yorker, who suffered a near-fatal overdose at a Las Vegas brothel in October 2015. The star, whose ex-wife Khloe Kardashian had called it quits with him amid infidelity reports two years earlier, eventually woke up from his coma after an extensive effort from doctors to keep him alive.
Interestingly enough, however, Lamar asserted in an interview with American Addiction Centers‘ Addiction Talk in August 2021 that he never digested any drugs the night he had made his way over to the Love Ranch brothel. His comments strongly suggested he had been drugged, adding that nothing made sense to him when he woke up from his coma since he was sure to have entered the creep joint sober.
“I didn’t take anything that night,” he claimed. “I was really hurt and almost in some sense afraid because somebody just tried to take my life.” Further in the interview, the former Khloe & Lamar reality star alleged that the brothel’s owner Dennis Hof could have had something to do with how bad things ended up transpiring the night he was rushed to the hospital following his overdose.
“I think Dennis Hof… I don’t know what he had against me, but I didn’t do drugs that night, to be honest with you,” he added. “So I don’t know if he tried to poison me, or … I don’t know what he had against me. He tried to kill me.”
