According to online booking records, 46-year-old Odom was pulled over early Saturday morning (January 17). During the traffic stop, police arrested the former professional basketball player on three charges, DUI of alcohol and/or a controlled or prohibited substance, plus two traffic violations.
During booking, he was charged with: Driving Under the Influence (first offense); Speeding (driving more than 41+ miles per hour over the limit); and failure to maintain lane/improper lane change. At the time of publishing, the incident remains under investigation and Odom appears to still be in police custody.
According to Clark County records, the DUI charge is Odom’s first in the area, which is classified as a misdemeanor. The charge is punishable by a minimum of 2 days in jail and a maximum of six months. Additionally, the court must impose a minim fine between $400 and $1,000.
Lamar Odom’s History Of Drug And Alcohol Addiction
Odom’s latest arrest for DUI in Las Vegas arrives a decade after he nearly died of an overdose in Pahrump, Nevada (about 59 miles from the Vegas Strip).
In October 2015, the two-time NBA champion was found unconscious at Nevas’s Love Ranch brothel and hospitalized. At the time, his then-wife, Khloé Kardashian, rushed to his side to help nurse him back to health. Shortly after, their marriage came to end when Odom relapsed in 2016.
Before this, Odom was previously arrested in 2013 for DUI in Los Angeles. The former baller has a known and documented history of drug and alcohol addiction. However, in recent years, he has been committed to his sobriety — for which he admitted ketamine has helped.
He’s even offered to help other celebrities and non-celebs struggling with their own addictions. He does so through the many rehabilitation centers he owns. In April 2023, he vowed to help save lives as he acquired multiple rehab centers in California. He said, “God saved me, so I can save others.”
