LA County DA Explains Why He CAN’T Prosecute Diddy After Heartbreaking Video Showing Him Assaulting Ex Girlfriend Cassie

The now-viral disturbing video of Diddy brutally assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie has infuriated people online, with many calling for him to be arrested and charged.

However, the LA County District Attorney is speaking out to explain why that can’t happen. In an Instagram post, he clarified why they cannot prosecute music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs after a disturbing video surfaced showing him allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, at a hotel. The key factor behind this decision lies in the statute of limitations for assault cases.

As previously reported, the incident in question took place on March 5, 2016, at the InterContinental Hotel. In the statement, the DA’s office explained that if the depicted conduct occurred in 2016, they would be unable to press charges due to the timeline restrictions for prosecuting assault cases. “We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles. We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch. If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted,” DA George Gascón said. He continued,

“As of today, law enforcement has not presented a case related to the attack depicted in the video against Mr. Combs, but we encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement or reach out to our office for support from our Bureau of Victims Services,” DA George Gascón said.

California’s statute of limitations for simple assault is one year, while aggravated assault has a three-year limitation. Unfortunately, based on the timeline of the incident, neither of these charges could be levied against Diddy.

More On The Video:

The video, captured from multiple angles, aligns with the incident described by Cassie Ventura in a federal lawsuit she filed in November. In her lawsuit, Cassie alleged that Diddy kicked, punched and dragged her. She also claims he sexually abused her throughout their relationship, which was later settled a day her filing..

Representatives for Diddy have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the video. However, in the past, Diddy has vehemently denied the allegations, describing them as sickening. He said, “Enough is enough. For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character and destroy my reputation and my legacy. Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family, and for the truth.“ More recently he even posted, “Time will tell all.”

Cassie’s lawyer has since released a statement regarding the release of the tape. Her attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, said: “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
