LA Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor Faces Benching After Team Doctor Accidentally Punctures His Lung
LA Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor, 31, is now facing benching this NFL season after the team doctor accidentally punctured his lung while administering a pain reliever injection ahead of kickoff this past Sunday (Sept. 20).
While explaining why Taylor missed his team’s Week 2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, leaving rookie quarterback Justin Herbert to fill in, sources tell ESPN, a team doctor mistakenly punctured Taylor’s lung trying to ease the pain of his cracked ribs — an injury he sustained from the Charger’s Week 1 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
As the NFL Players Associations continues to investigate the medical mishap, sources say Taylor has been advised to avoid playing “indefinitely” following the injury. As he is currently seeking advanced medical attention for his ribs, punctured lung and difficulty breathing, it is very unlikely for him to be fully healthy for Week 3’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
