The two rookie officers were transported to the St.Francis Medical Center in Lynwood after Saturday’s deadly shooting. During a press conference held by Capt. Kent Wagner, it was reported the suspect approached the deputies vehicle from behind and walked alongside the passenger side then fired his weapon several times around 7 p.m. Saturday. Both deputies, aged 31 and 24, were shot in the head and only worked 14 months on the force.
Currently, the hospital is under heavy police surveillance with multiple police vehicles guarding the entrance. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office said they are offering a $100,000 award for any information leading up to the capture and conviction of the shooting suspect. The suspect was last seen wearing dark clothing before running out of the surveillance camera’s sight.

Sheriff Villanueva called the shooting “cowardly” and said it is “just a somber reminder that this is a dangerous job, and actions and words have consequences. Our job does not get any easier because people do not like law enforcement. It pisses me off, it dismays me at the same time. There’s no pretty way to say it.”
