The Brooklyn Nets player stated the funds will be distributed from his KAI Empowerment Initiative, a foundation that was officially launched on Monday. He says, “Whether a person decided to fight for social justice, play basketball, focus on physical or mental health, or simply connect with their families, this initiative can hopefully support their priorities and decisions,”
As reported by WKBN, the initiative will also provide financial literacy for players and help those who have to worry about having a paycheck from the season. Irving also said WNBA players Natasha Cloud and Jewell Loyd helped connect him with several other players who had to face a tough decision whether to play in the league this season and the current top salary is a bit more than $200,000.
