Actress and comedienne Kym Whitley is shutting down rumors that she had an alleged threesome with her ex-boyfriend and late singer Gerald Levert and fellow actress and comedienne Mo’Nique.
In the late 1980s, Whitley and Levert began dating on and off after growing up with each other as young children. Recalling her relationship with Levert in 2021, Whitley told TV One’s Uncensored that she and Levert had a pact to get married by 50, but before it happened, he passed away in November 2006 due to an accidental prescription drug overdose.
She also mentioned that Levert loved women and often messed with other people. She then recalled Mo’Nique wanting to date Levert after they’d split. Whitley said Mo’Nique came to her for permission and she gave her blessing, reluctantly. Mo’Nique and Levert began dating, but things didn’t work out, but they remained friends. Elsewhere, Levert also dated singer Miki Howard and Xscape singer Kandi Burruss.
On September 19, a report by MediaTakeOut was published with a headline that read, ‘Comedian Kym Whitney: I Had THR**SOME w/ Mo’Nique & Gerald Levert … And The Bed BROKE!’
In the now-deleted article, the outlet claimed that Whitley dropped a bombshell and recalled an alleged romantic rendezvous she had with both Mo’Nique and the late R&B singer Gerald Levert. The outlet said Whitley made the revelation while speaking on the ‘Uptown Angela’ show on New Orleans’ Q93. Reportedly, Whitley was asked about the time she dated Levert.
The outlet said this is when Whitley “spilled tea by the GALLONS” and said that while she dated Levert, he started talking to her friend Mo’Nique on the side. Reportedly, one night after they all left the club, Levert allegedly “sweet-talked” both women into his bed.
According to the outlet, Whitley claimed that Levert had a mirror over his bed and that he “took turns making love to each one of them.” However, they add that at one point during the alleged threesome with Mo’Nique, Levert’s bed broke as he was servicing Whitley. The outlet then claimed that Whitley said she and Mo’Nique are now no longer friends because she allegedly accused her of trying to seduce her husband Sidney Hicks.
Reportedly, Whitley told the radio host that she would never cheat with Mo’Nique’s husband, even though she claimed Mo’Nique was Levert’s alleged side chick for years.
Responding to the claims and shutting them down, Whitley took to her account on X, formerly Twitter, and wrote, “As funny as the idea of this story is, this is NOT TRUE. Total fabrication! I would usually laugh at a story like this, but anyone that knows me, knows how special Gerald LeVert was to me …so I had to debunk this tabloid tale. #false#funny#nottrue.”
Q93 host Uptown Angela also spoke out on the claims on the station’s website and said, “So according to MediaTakeout.com I interviewed Kym Whitley today and she spilled big TEA about an alleged threesome between her, Gerald Levert & MO’NIQUE … The blog says during this rendezvous, THE BED BROKE!!! WTH? This interview NEVER happened!!! Is it April Fool’s Day, MTO???”
