On Thursday’s episode of The Kardashians, Kylie, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian talk about the pressures society places on them constantly to be perfect. While having the discussion during a little glam session, Kylie Jenner really opens up about some of the untrue assumptions about her and her self-confidence.
“I always remember being the most confident kid in the room,” Kylie says while looking back at her childhood. “I always loved myself — I still love myself — and one of the biggest misconceptions about me is that I was this insecure child and I got so much surgery to change my whole face, which is false, I’ve only gotten fillers.” She went on to add, “I feel like I don’t want that to be a part of my story.”
Kylie went on to note that she’s been seeing “so many young girls on the internet now full editing” their photos to keep up with today’s society and its beauty standards. She admitted, “I went through that stage too and I feel like I’m in a better place,” she admitted, “but other people can still instill insecurities in you.”
Sharing one of her insecurities, Kylie said she always felt conscious about her ears after her family started pointing them out calling her “Dopey” from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Although they just thought it was cute, that was a comment that stuck with the 25-year-old for years. She said she “didn’t receive it” like a cute comment at the time.
“I received it as everyone’s making fun of my ears,” Kylie shared. “That f–ked me up. I never thought about my ears, and then for like five years, I never wore an updo.” However, those feelings went away after she had her daughter Stormi Webster and learned to embrace her ears. “She had my ears and it made me realize how much I love them,” Kylie shared. “I’m like, wow, I’m insecure about my ears, but I think my daughter is the most beautiful person ever. Now I wear an updo every carpet.”
Meanwhile, Khloe admitted that she may have never even gone under the knife to get a nose job if her own mom, Kris Jenner, hadn’t made so many comments about her nose.
“It’s unfair to put so much pressure on people, I think we’re all just doing the best we can,” she adds.
One thing Kylie, Kourtney, and Khloe all relate to is that they all share the same feelings of not wanting their children to have those same insecurities.
“We do live in a world that is obsessed with perfection,” Kourtney, who is currently pregnant, confessed. “I think my mom always had us dressing alike and being polished and hair done, and I think I’m just really conscious with my own kids about giving them the freedom to express themselves and not put so much pressure on perfectionism.”
The Kardashians sisters teased this big conversation earlier this year when they dropped the teaser for latest season dropped back in May.
Jenner’s comments in the first trailer for Season 3 of “The Kardashians” showed them digging deep into this topic: “All of us need to have a bigger conversation about the beauty standards we’re setting,” she says. “I don’t want my daughter to do the things I did.”
