Kyle Rittenhouse Reportedly Lost All Of His Money After His Acquittal Over The Two Fatal Shootings Of Two Protestors In Wisconsin

KENOSHA, WISCONSIN - NOVEMBER 10: Kyle Rittenhouse becomes emotional describing events leading up to the shooting of Joseph Rosenbaum as he testifies during his trial at the Kenosha County Courthouse on November 10, 2021 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Rittenhouse shot three demonstrators, killing two of them, during a night of unrest that erupted in Kenosha after a police officer shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back while police attempted to arrest him in August 2020. Rittenhouse, from Antioch, Illinois, was 17 at the time of the shooting and armed with an assault rifle. He faces counts of felony homicide and felony attempted homicide. Rittenhouse’s criminal defense attorney Mark Richards said in a statement that his client is planning to release a book about his life along with the circumstances that led to the fatal shootings of Joseph Rosenbaum,36, and Anthony Huber,26. Additionally, 26-year-old Gaige Grosskreutz was injured by Rittenhouse at the protest. Rittenhouse claimed he used him gun in self-defense and he was acquitted on charged of first-degree intentional homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, and two charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety as reported by Newsweek.

He announced his new book, Acquitted, on November 20 and stated the book is “a story of survival, resilience, and justice.” However, Richards says Rittenhouse is trying to support himself, and any money he did get from the case is gone.

He is working, he is trying to support himself. Everybody thinks that Kyle got so much money from this. Whatever money he did get is gone,” he explained to Court TV.

“He’s living, I don’t want to say paycheck to paycheck, but he’s living to support himself. Obviously, as his lawyer and somebody who I want to do well, I hope he does re-engage in his studies. But right now he is working full-time, he is living a law-abiding life and he is doing something that he enjoys.”

Kyle Rittenhouse did not win any money from his case. As of October 4, 2023, the only known financial transaction resulting from the case was when Rittenhouse received $1,000 from an anonymous donor through a GoFundMe campaign.

There were claims that Rittenhouse was seeking a $100 million lawsuit against media outlets that had reported on the case and was seeking a $22 million lawsuit against the hosts of ABC’s “The View” for alleged defamation. However, Rittenhouse’s attorney denied these claims. He also denied rumors that he had won a lawsuit against The View and received a $22 million settlement, saying the claims were “not true”. Reuters did not find any evidence of a lawsuit filed against The View by Rittenhouse or a $22 million settlement.
