Kristin Cabot, the Head of HR at Astronomer, has resigned from her position amid the Coldplay cheating scandal with former CEO Andy Byron.
Last week, Byron and Cabot — who are both married with kids — were seen embracing on a jumbo screen during a Coldplay concert. The event took place at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts on Wednesday, July 16.
Things began when Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, introduced the “Kiss Cam.” As the camera scanned the audience, it landed on then-Astronomer CEO Andy Byron – who was standing behind his Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot.

The moment initially looked sweet as Byron had his arms wrapped around Cabot’s waist, with her arms on top of his. However, they were clearly caught off guard. So, Byron did what any man attempting to dodge a scandal would do. He hit the floor as Cabot turned around, leaving her back to face the camera.
Not realizing he had blown up the marriages of Cabot and Byron, the 48-year-old Coldplay singer jokingly reacted to the duo ducking. He said, “Oh, what, either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.” It didn’t take too long after the incident for social media to blast out the videos and begin connecting the dots.
The viral moment soon resulted in Andy Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, deleting his last name from her Facebook page. Reports also revealed that Kristin Cabot and her husband, Privateer Rum CEO Andrew Cabot, just bought a home together 5 months ago.

The viral event also led to Astronomer’s Board of Directors launching an investigation into Cabot and Byron’s alleged affair. Subsequently, the company placed the two on leave. However, Andy Byron ultimately resigned as CEO, as of July 19.
Astronomer Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has since stepped in to serve as interim CEO. On Thursday (July 24), TMZ now reports that a rep for Astronomer told them, “Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer — she has resigned.”
Despite Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot exiting Astronomer amid the Coldplay scandal, Pete DeJoy is looking to overcome the controversy. In his July 21 LinkedIn statement, the interim CEO in part wrote:
“Over the weekend, I stepped into the role of Interim CEO at Astronomer, a company that I’ve proudly poured my entire professional life into helping build. The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies — let alone startups in our small corner of the data and AI world — ever encounter. The spotlight has been unusual and surreal for our team and, while I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name.
At Astronomer we have never shied away from challenges; a near-decade of building this business has tested us time and time again, and each time we’ve emerged stronger. From starting a software company in Cincinnati, Ohio, to keeping the lights on through the collapse of the bank that held all our cash, to scaling from 30 to 300 people during a global pandemic that demanded we do it all without ever being in the same room. And yet, we’re still here…”
