Kris Jenner is not planning to share any further details regarding Kourtney Kardashian’s upcoming wedding to Travis Barker. The pair announced their engagement in October, much to the surprise of many family members, who at one point thought that the Poosh founder was never going to tie the knot — at least not until she began dating Travis and her outlook on marriage began to change.
The 66-year-old momager was recently asked about how Kourtney was preparing for her big day and whether she and Travis had already picked a wedding date. But Kris opted not to spill any details concerning her daughter’s nuptials, presumably because Kourt and her beau will film their journey to the altar for the family’s reality show, The Kardashians. Kris responded to PEOPLE, saying, “I have been sworn to secrecy. If I I say one thing about a wedding, I am gonna be in so much trouble!”
As seen on last week’s episode of their show, Travis organized a romantic proposal on Malibu beach, where he got on one knee and popped the question to Kourtney. Her children, Mason, Penelope, and Reign, however, were noticeably missing from the special moment. Kris later cleared up why the kids were not involved, claiming it would have been harder to keep the secret by telling Scott Disick without Kourtney finding out. “Listen, for us to have to lie to Scott and get them here under false pretences would’ve been really hard for all of us. So you know what? This is the right thing to do … that’s the way I feel about it.”
In her confessional, the lifestyle guru expressed that she did feel saddened by the fact that her children weren’t involved, saying that they were evidently going to feel excluded from the surprise — and given that Kourtney shares a very close bond with her kids, she still believed they should have been involved to some capacity.
“How do I tell my kids? I feel like I need to tell them now,” she said. “I do wish that my kids were here. I think it would’ve made them feel more included in the decision kind of, like part of the surprise. I know that my mum made that decision, and it probably wasn’t her best.”
Kourtney later FaceTimed with her offsprings, telling them that Travis had proposed, much to Penelope’s surprise, who broke down in tears and didn’t appear to have taken the news all that well. The mother-of-three believed that her eldest daughter didn’t know how to comprehend the news, which prompted her to get emotional.
“Penelope took it hard. I think it’s a big change for her and even though she loves Travis, I think she doesn’t know what that means. Is that taking me away? I think she doesn’t know what it means.”
