Korean Pop Group BTS Donates $1M To Black Lives Matter & Fans Match
After Korean Pop group BTS donated $1 million to Black Lives Matter, their fans, and those of other K-Pop artists, have matched the donation and are organizing rallies and social media initiatives to join the fight against police brutality and racism.
Within 24 hours of donating the whopping million, BTS’ fans matched their donation. In a post on Twitter noting their pledge last week — which has since been retweeted more than 1 million times — the group firmly stated, “We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence.”

After the announcement, the hashtag #MatchAMillion began trending worldwide, causing the group’s fans — One in an Army — to create an online donation project that raised just over $1 million as of Monday morning (June 7), via nearly 35,000 donors from Europe and North America.
The fanbase tweeted, “Just like BTS, we were able to donate 1M dollars to help fund bailouts for those arrested for protesting police brutality and support black-led advocacy groups, among others.”
In addition to the group’s donations, funds for protestors have been set up nationwide. Celebrities who’ve since donated are: Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, Colin Kaepernick, and many more.
