Kodak Black is back in the legal mix. The Florida rapper native was booked into the Orange County Jail on Wednesday, hit with a heavy felony charge of trafficking in MDMA. While the arrest just went down, this whole situation has been simmering for months.
This wasn’t some random street stop, though. The rapper’s legal team confirmed this was a coordinated surrender stemming from a high-stakes investigation back in November 2025. Kodak reportedly turned himself in after a warrant was issued following a months-long deep dive by Orlando PD and the FDLE into an incident that went down late last year.
The November Incident: Gunfire and Luxury Rides
As previously reported, catalyst for all this drama was a report of gunfire near the Children’s Safety Village on Fairvilla Road. When officers touched down, they found a crowd surrounding a BMW SUV and a Lamborghini SUV. According to the warrant, the scent of “burnt cannabis” coming from the BMW prompted a search that turned up weed and a pink pill that tested positive for MDMA. At the time, the 28-year-old rapper, who’s been staying down in Fort Lauderdale, didn’t dodge the scene. He reportedly walked right up to the officers and watched the search unfold.
Investigators eventually focused their attention on the Lamborghini, where they claim they hit a jackpot of evidence: 37,000 in cash, and a pink bag containing approximately 25 grams of MDMA along with official documents with Bill Kapri’s name on them.
Authorities allegedly used Kodak’s Instagram to connect the dots. The warrant states they matched the pink bag and a lighter found in the car to items seen in the rapper’s recent social media posts.
Kodak’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, isn’t letting this slide without a fight. Cohen is calling the case “weak,” noting that Kodak wasn’t even in the vehicle at the time of the search. He also mentioned that a fingerprint found on a bottle of prescription cough syrup inside the bag doesn’t prove trafficking.
Regardless, the state is moving forward with the charge of Trafficking in MDMA (between 14 and 200 grams). Kodak is expected to see a judge this Thursday afternoon.
