Kodak Black no longer has to worry about his recent drug possession case because a judge just dismissed the remaining tampering charge against the Florida rapper, according to TMZ.
As we previously reported, Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, was arrested back in December when police officers found him asleep at the wheel, according to the probable cause affidavit. They allegedly caught him with white powder in his mouth. The powder tested positive for cocaine, but a lab test later revealed it was oxycodone, for which Black has a prescription, his attorney argued.
The State Attorney’s Office’s arguments “do not refute or negate the material fact that the Defendant had an Oxycodone prescription filled by a pharmacy,” Judge Barbara Duffy wrote in her order granting the motion to dismiss. “Instead, the State merely asserts that the Defendant had the burden of providing additional evidence regarding the prescription drug he was given. The State, however, does not allege or demonstrate that the prescription obtained by the Defendant on July 19, 2022, was not valid or was illegally obtained.”
His attorney Bradford Cohen spoke with TMZ and released a statement saying “”The court recognized the valid arguments that were made to dismiss the last remaining count of this wrongful arrest. We are happy to see the case resolved and Kodak continue to be successful in both the entertainment world and his philanthropic ventures.”
The rapper was facing two criminal charges: one count of possession of oxycodone and one count of tampering with physical evidence.
Kodak Black also had a viral moment when he was released from jail in February. The rapper was seen on camera throwing rocks at reporters who wanted to get his thoughts on the case.
“These rocks hit my photographer right in the ribs. This is very serious,” WPLG-TV reporter Rosh Lowe said in the clip. “It is very usual in our profession to interview people coming out of jail, especially noteworthy people. What is unusual is rocks being thrown and threats being hurled.” In the video footage, you can see the rapper hiding behind an air conditioner outside of Browsed County jail and throwing rocks at the reporters. “Don’t throw anything at our camera!” Lowe shouts twice in the video. The reporter said the photographer wasn’t injured after being hit in the ribs by the rock, but they did report the incident to police.
As of right now, there hasn’t been an update about that incident outside of the jail.
