Dallas Mavericks star Klay Thompson is clapping back and shading the hell out of Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant, who was trash talking and putting fingers in Thompson’s face during a heated exchange on the court.
On Saturday night (November 22), Morant, who did not play in the Grizzlies’ 102-96 victory of the Mavs, was doing a whole lot of smack talking from the bench. He’s currently out with an injury. Having had enough, Thompson decided to check him.
In a viral clip from the game, after the final whistle, Morant, holding the game ball, puts his finger in Thompson’s face. The latter swatted it away and the two continued to exchange words as a other players and coaches separated them.
What Led Up To Ja Morant And Klay Thompson’s Viral Heated Exchange On Court
Reportedly, the tensions between Thompson and the Grizzlies began after Memphis forward Santi Aldama appeared to intentionally trip Cooper Flagg while Aldama was on the ground. Thompson confronted Aldama about the messy move. From there, the tension spilled into Thompson’s run-in with Morant.
Morant also took a dig at Thompson after the game. He crashed teammate Cam Spencer‘s postgame interview and said, “Tell ’em who the best shooter in the house was. It wasn’t bro from Golden State.” Thompson played his first 13 seasons in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors.

Klay Thompson Claps Back And Shades Ja Morant After Viral Heated Exchange
After the game, Klay Thompson spoke with press in the locker room and he did not hold back on his thoughts about Ja Morant. While addressing their heated exchange, he said, “With Ja, he’s a funny guy. He has a lot to say all the time, especially for a guy who rarely takes accountability. But you know what? That’s for another day.”
He added, “Just running his mouth. He’s been running his mouth for a long time and it’s funny to run your mouth when you’re on the bench. It’s kind of the story of his career so far, just leaving us wanting more. You know, we all want to see him out there and do his best but he’s just been letting a lot of other stuff get in the way of that. We need that in the NBA, we need our best players to be out there. When you’re a star it comes with a great responsibility. I hate to see that go to waste.”
