Somebody please come get Kirk Franklin! The Gospel singer claims that in order for us to “save the next generation,” we need to start giving our kids “real names,” like “‘Betty, Phyllis, Geraldine & Ruby, etc.”
Kirk Franklin Says In Order To ‘Save The Next Generation,’ We Need To Start Giving Our Kids ‘Real Names’ Like ‘Betty, Phyllis, Geraldine & Ruby’
On Sunday (March 5), Kirk took to his official Instagram account and shared some news about a new addition being made to his family.
Kirk opened his video by explaining with a smile on his face, “My daughter just gave birth to my second grandchild. A beautiful little girl named Levi. Levi’s beautiful. But, I told my daughter that I think to save the next generation, we need to go back … we need to go back to real names.”
Kirk then explains what he believes are considered “real names.” He adds, “That baby should have been named Betty. Phyllis. Geraldine. Ruby. See we moved too far. We need some more Charlenes. You know, we’ve got to take it back, if we’re going to change the world. Bring back Johnnie Mae. Jeannette. Debra.”
Kirk then ends his rant by telling the good folks at home, “God Bless You.”
Meanwhile, some social media users had some questions and comments for Kirk. Many were shocked that he took up an issue with the name Levi, being that it is a biblical name, aka a name found in the Bible.
Other commenters agreed and said to bring back names like Gertrude. One person even said that if they have a son, they are going to name them Ernest James. And if they have a girl, they will name her Viola Mae.
Elsewhere, other commenters questioned Kirk about the names of some of his children: Kerrion and Cazziah. Another person said for Kirk not to worry about the future generation becuase director, actor, singer KeKe Palmer just had a child named Leodis “Leo” Andrellton.
#Socialites, do you agree with Kirk? Which of these names would you call your kid? Be sure to check out the post below, then leave us your thoughts in a comment after!
