Kim Kardashian Opens Up About Co-Parenting With Kanye West
Whew! Kim Kardashian got real comfy on the Call Her Daddy podcast and opened up about her relationship with ex-husband and the father of her four kids, Kanye West.
Alex Cooper asked the beauty mogul what it’s currently like co-parenting with Kanye, and Kim kept it real.
She confirmed that she takes care of their kids full-time but allows an open door for Ye to see his kids when he wants.
“They live with me, and I welcome a great, healthy relationship with my kids and their dad. And I think he knows that,” Kardashian said during Wednesday’s podcast. “I push for it all the time, but I also protect them when it’s time for that. It goes in waves and phases and it’s a lot of work.”
She went on to reveal,
“It’s probably been a couple [of] months since we’ve heard from him,” she said, noting that the kids are aware of West’s “big life” traveling and touring. “We manage it really well.
”
Kim added,
“It’s not easy, no matter what, coparenting with anyone. I think that the one thing that just gets me is that there’s this narrative that I keep the kids away from him,” the SKIMS founder said. “I’ve never once done that.”
Kim Reflects on the Final Straw in Her Marriage to Kanye
At some point during the interview, the ladies got a little deep about what the final straw was for Kim to end her marriage of nearly seven years.
She revealed that she tried her best to be supportive of him during his “episodes,” even when it made her feel unsafe both physically and mentally.
She recalled the times he would have an episode and then give their Lamborghinis to his friends.
“Not feeling safe, you know, not even physically, just like maybe emotionally or even, you know, financially,” she explained. “I would like come home, and we had like five Lamborghinis and I’d come home and they’d all be gone if he was in an episode. And I’d be like, ‘Oh, wait. Where’s all our cars? Like, my new car?’ And it would be like, oh, he gave them away to all of his friends.”
Kardashian noted,
“I didn’t know what you’re gonna get when you wake up, and that’s like a really unsettling feeling.”
Kim Admits the Relationship Became “Toxic”
Kim ultimately came to the conclusion that West wasn’t “willing to make changes” that she thought would be “super healthy and beneficial.”
“It makes it really hard to continue on in a relationship that can be toxic,” she said. “When you have kids, it’s definitely harder to leave than it is to stay. And it changes everyone’s life forever.”
