Kevin Hart Responds To NBC News’ Usain Bolt Mix-Up, Social Media Reacts
NBC News was one of many outlets to cover the story about Usain Bolt, who tested positive for COVID-19. However, their article stood out more due to its featured image which included comedian Kevin Hart instead of the World-record sprinter and eight-time Olympic gold medalist.

Many people quickly caught the mistake and reacted to the mix-up on social media. One user said, “Fun Fact: @NBCNews, this is NOT Usain Bolt; that is Kevin Hart. They are two entirely different Black people.” Another added, Umm, this is Kevin Hart!!! @NBCNews this is messy. WE DON’T ALL LOOK ALIKE. This is really telling honestly.
Hart also took to Instagram and shared a screenshot of NBC News’ story about Usain with his image attached to the headline. The 41-year-old comedian joked about the situation but ultimately felt that their move was “disrespectful.” He said:
“No comment 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️…..I must of gotten really fast & tall overnight….I want to take advantage of this moment & race anybody in the world. We can bet whatever….Sh*t just got real. I am also no longer doing comedy due to my Olympic training schedule….IM BACK BITCHES!!!!!! 🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️ P.S this is Disrespectful on so many levels….All you can do is laugh. Maybe the Covid 19 shrunk his legs & torso 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️😂😂😂”
NBC said the mistake was caused by a “technical error.”
“Correction: Due to a technical error, the social image on this post mistakenly featured a photo of comedian Kevin Hart,” the correction states. ‘In the content management system, a social image was not selected, and the system reverted to an image of Hart from an unrelated video. The display image has been corrected.”
