Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline believes that Jamie Spears putting his daughter in a conservatorship in 2008 ultimately saved her life. The 44-year-old, who shares Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15, with the “Gimme More” singer, sat down for an exclusive interview with 60 Minutes of Australia, which aired on Sunday, and it goes without saying that Federline is clearly not on good terms with his ex.
Amid their public feud, the former backup dancer felt it was appropriate to discuss personal matters on the Australian television show, where he expressed how the 13-year court-ordered arrangement helped Spears “100%.” The same conservatorship that allegedly prevented Spears from having any contact with her friends, restricted her from driving her own car, being forced into mental health facilities against her will, and had listening devices bugged inside her bedroom to eavesdrop on her conversations.

Federline, who earns a reported $20,000 in child support from Spears made sure to let it be known that he apparently had no involvement with the conservatorship. He also said he wasn’t aware of all that went on while Spears was fighting for her freedom, but the father of six is convinced that her family was trying all options to help when things were derailing in her life. Further in the interview, it was Jayden who boldly claimed that Jamie only had Britney’s best intentions at heart when he was put in control of her life.
“He was trying to be like any father, like pursue his daughter’s dream of being a superstar, working and doing all these concerts and performing,” he shared. “But I think some people are just, like, ceasing to realize how much he cares about her.”
He also touched on why he and his brother Sean decided not to attend their mom’s wedding to Sam Asghari in June, explaining that since the entire family wasn’t invited (presumably referring to Spears’ relatives), it didn’t make much sense for them to be there given all the controversy that had erupted in the media in the lead-up to the nuptials.
Kevin Federline talking about how their sons felt about Britney’s conservatorship finally ending after 14 years:

“I’m really happy for them. But, like, I mean… She didn’t invite the whole family, and then if it was going to be me and Preston, like, I don’t see how that situation would have ended on good terms.”
Federline further said that his boys were also not pleased to see the endless nude photos of their mom on social media, having denounced her decision to go topless on her Instagram on numerous occasions since her conservatorship ended.
