Kendall Jenner Sued For $150K Over Instagram Video Of Herself

Yikes! Kendall Jenner is being sued for $150,000 over an Instagram video of herself. In the copyright infringement suit, filed by the New York-based photographer who filmed the brief clip in question, Angela Ma names Jenner and her company Kendall Jenner Inc.

Ma claims, during Jenner’s visit to NYC, she took video of the ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians‘ star, and later obtained a copyright license, certified via the US Copyright Office. After doing so, Ma claims the young model proceeded to repost the licensed video on her Instagram, which boasts more than 13 million followers.

In her suit, Ma argues that in freely uploading the visual, Jenner devalued the footage, ruining potential business for Ma. The suit reads, “defendants did not license the video from the plaintiff for the website or any other use. The defendants did not have the plaintiff’s permission or consent to publish the video on the website.” Additionally,, “The defendants infringed the plaintiff’s copyright in the video by reproducing and publicly displaying the video on the website. The defendants were not, and have never been, licensed or otherwise authorized to reproduce, publicly display, distribute and/or use the video.”

Furthermore, the lawsuit seeks in excess of $150,000 per infringement allegedly committed by Jenner; in addition to damages, the removal of the video from all platforms, and any profits made after the illegal upload.
