Kelly Rowland is finally breaking her silence after taking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.
As we previously reported, while attending the premiere of “Marcello Mio,” the singer/actress was posing for photos when security guards seemed to be rushing her up the stairs. Out of nowhere, a woman extends her arm to stop Kelly, prompting the “Motivation” singer to give a smile at the security guard and gently touch her arm. Despite the woman maintaining her arm in place and guiding Rowland up the stairs, the Destiny’s Child star offers a friendly finger wave to the woman indicating that the need for such excessive force was unnecessary.
After many people online began to debate what caused the issue, Kelly Rowland is speaking out to let the world know what went down that day. “The woman knows what happened. I know what happened. And, I have a boundary. And I stand by those boundaries and that is it,” Rowland told @apentertainment. “There were other women who attended that carpet, who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off. And, I stood my ground and she felt like she had to stand hers. But I stood my ground.”
This interaction comes months after Rowland allegedly walked off the “Today” set due to issues with her dressing room.
“Kelly and her team were not happy. They did not like the dressing room, so they decided to pull her off the show, leaving [Hoda Kotb] without a guest host for the 10 a.m. hour,” a source close to the situation told Page Six at the time.
Not long after speculation a representative for Rowland spoke out and shared a response. “After 28 years of knowing her, Kelly Rowland remains one of the kindest, most amiable humans I have ever met and have had the blessing to represent.”
