While speaking with Teen Vogue in a new interview, Keke Palmer revealed that she might be walking away from Hollywood soon.
“I think the timer has started,” Keke shared during the conversation. “I think [I haven’t retired] because I just haven’t felt it yet. But the timer, I know that it’s around the corner.” The 30-year-old actress said she isn’t sure when she will walk away from it all but she can feel it coming soon. As we all know Keke Palmer got into the acting business at the age of 9 and hasn’t looked back since. During the chat with Teen Vogue, she reflected on all of her accomplishments and how she’ll be happy to see all the up and coming stars that will follow behind her.
“The main thing I want those legacies to be is [a call] to use your power for good, to use what you have to create spaces and systems for other people to thrive,” she explained. She also added, “I just don’t believe in holding everything. I don’t believe in gatekeeping. I’m not a coward.”
From a young age, Palmer showcased her natural abilities in various areas of the entertainment industry, making her mark as an actress, singer, and television personality. With every project she undertakes, Palmer continues to captivate audiences and solidify her position as one of Hollywood’s most promising stars.
Palmer’s career began to take shape at the tender age of nine when she landed her first acting role in the critically acclaimed film, “Akeelah and the Bee” (2006). Her portrayal of the title character, Akeelah Anderson, a young girl with a gift for spelling, garnered widespread praise and earned her a nomination for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.
Following her breakout performance, Palmer further showcased her acting prowess in various television shows and films, including “Jump In!” (2007), “True Jackson, VP” (2008-2011), and “Joyful Noise” (2012). These projects not only solidified her reputation as a talented actress but also allowed her to explore different genres and showcase her versatility.
In addition to her acting career, Palmer has also made a name for herself in the music industry. She released her debut album, “So Uncool,” at the age of 14, showcasing her vocal abilities and songwriting skills. The album received positive reviews and featured collaborations with notable artists such as Big Meech and Dondria. Palmer’s music career continued to gain momentum with the release of subsequent singles and EPs, demonstrating her growth as an artist and her willingness to experiment with different musical styles.
Palmer’s talent and charisma have not gone unnoticed in the world of television. She has appeared as a judge on the popular singing competition show, “American Idol,” and more recently, as a co-host on the talk show, “Strahan, Sara, and Keke.” Her infectious personality and ability to connect with audiences have made her a beloved figure in the talk show circuit.
However, it is Palmer’s recent projects that have truly exemplified her range as an actress. In 2019, she starred in the critically acclaimed film, “Hustlers,” alongside Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu.
